The government today extended the tenure of J S Deepak as India's Ambassador to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) till May 31, 2020, according to an official order.
He was to retire today after completion of 60 years age of superannuation.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of Deepak's tenure as Ambassador/Permanent Representative of India to the WTO, Geneva, from August 1, 2018 until May 31, 2020 on reemployment basis, it said.
Former Telecom Secretary Deepak is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
The WTO is a global international organisation dealing with the rules of trade between nations.
The ACC has also approved further extension in tenure of L C Goyal, CMD, ITPO, for a period of one year beyond September 1, 2018, the order said.
