The Centre is giving final touches to a national tourism policy, which is expected to provide single window clearance for organising meetings and conferences.
Satyajeet Rajan, director general, Union ministry of tourism, made a suggestion in this regard while addressing the second edition of Global MICE Travel Mart, a MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, events/exhibitions) in- bound tourism platform in the country, a FICCI statement said today.
The event was organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in association with the ministry of tourism.
Concurring with the view of stakeholders, Rajan said that there was a need to provide incentives to this sector to make it competitive in the world market.
He said "there was a pressing need to conduct a study to assess the size of the industry and a consultant was being appointed to suggest a workable road map for the development of the sector," the statement said.
On the occasion, a FICCI-MRSS Knowledge Paper on 'MICE: Tourism Powerhouse of a New Era' was also unveiled.
