The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a statement, said the monitoring system will be able to detect those MSOs that do not carry the mandated encrypted signals.
Under Digital Addressable System (DAS), it is mandatory for MSOs to transmit digitally-encrypted signals.
A web-based pilot project for monitoring has been installed in Bangalore and was undergoing field trials.
"This system will help the users to centrally acquire, log, analyze and prepare report on the status of DAS parameters like total number/name of channels, encryption status etc of cable TV signals of head end of each registered MSO across the country in real time," the statement said.
