Noting that the Budget was passed in a hurry and several members who wanted to speak were not allowed, senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said after its passage, there was "no business at all" in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha for several days.
"Lok Sabha debated a motion under Rule 193 (special discussion) for six days and there was no legislative business in the Rajya Sabha," Yechury said, with his party colleague Mohd Salim adding that the government had "no roadmap to conduct the business in Parliament".
"The government did not come prepared to conduct the Budget Session. In that too, it showed a great degree of injudiciousness especially in the last phase," the CPI(M) leader said.
He was referring to the simultaneous passage of the National Judicial Appointments Commission Bill and the related Constitution amendment measure in Lok Sabha, while the two measures were taken up separately in Rajya Sabha.
On the debate on the communal situation in the country, Salim said the discussion saw some members making inflammatory statements or repeating rumours being spread, instead of trying to bring down the heightened emotions on the ground.
"If you use the forum of Parliament to foment and provoke communal passions, that is very dangerous," he said.
