"I am very clear that only the people whose names have appeared in the CD should be penalised, not all the candidates in the fray... My fundamental right should not be taken away due to the crime committed by others," he told PTI.
Gowda said if the Election Commission decides to cancel or postpone the polls, candidates of BJP "or even the Congress" will have to "suffer as they will have to await a fresh date of poll".
The sting by two channels on June 2 had purportedly showed MLAs negotiating a money deal in exchange for their votes in the biennial elections to four Rajya Sabha seats from the state. Five candidates are in the fray for the elections to the four seats.
Both BJP and Congress are opposed to the idea of countermanding elections.
