A group of youths allegedly fired outside a bar in south Delhi's Hauz Khas area and stabbed two persons including a bouncer and a Nigerian national, after they were not allowed to enter the venue as it was booked for a private party, police said today.
A call about firing outside the Salotto bar was received by the police around 12.25 am on the intervening night of December 2 and 3, said a senior police officer.
A group of youths, who were in an inebriated condition tried to enter the bar and had a fight when they were denied entry and later bouncer of the bar Manoj and one Nigerian national Nnamdi Makuochuk were stabbed by the accused Rahul and his 4-5 associates, said the officer.
"The bouncer told Rahul and his friends that the bar had been booked by Nmamdi for a private party. They were told that they couldn't be given access. However, they lost their cool and Rahul attacked Nnamdi and when the bouncer tried to intervene, he was also stabbed," said a senior police officer.
Rahul's friends started firing in the air to scare the guests and in the panic that ensued, the guests started hurling stones and bricks on the attackers. Rahul was hit by a brick and was left injured.
Rahul, who is a resident of Madangir, was admitted to AIIMS trauma centre for treatment.
Police recovered two empty cartridges and a motorcycle with Delhi registration number from the spot.
A case under Sections 307 (Attempt to murder), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) IPC read with sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered at Hauz Khas police station and further investigation is underway, she said.
