Gujarat govt doubles MLAs' development grant

Gujarat government today increased the annual funds allocated to the Members of Legislative Assembly for development works in their respective constituencies to Rs 1 crore from the earlier Rs 50 lakh.
A notification of general administration department said that "to speed up the works of development" the grant had been doubled from 2014-15.
In 2002-03, the grant had been increased from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
During the budget session this year, it was proposed to double the grant.
