The daughter-in-law of a senior Gujarat IPS officer today lodged a police complaint against him, his son and five other family members for allegedly tormenting her mentally and physically for raising voice against her husband's affair.
According to the FIR, the woman got married in December 2011 and her husband is working as Deputy Mamlatdar in Gandhinagar district.
As per her complaint, her husband is having an extra marital affair and she had recently caught him with another woman. She also alleged that he has started living with that woman without giving divorce to her.
She claimed that when she informed her father-in-law, who is a Deputy Inspector General-rank officer with Gujarat Police, and other family members about her husband's affair they allegedly took his side and started tormenting her.
The complaint was filed at Vadali police station of Sabarkantha district by the woman, who is a native of Vadali.
On the basis of the complaint, an FIR has been filed under
IPC section 498A (cruelty on woman by husband and relatives) and 506-2 (criminal intimidation), Sub-inspector R R Desai said.
"We have lodged an FIR against seven persons, including the police officer, his son and complainant's husband, another son and four other family members. No arrests have been made yet," the Sub-inspector said, adding further investigation is underway.
