The National Congress for Overseas Gujaratis in the UK made the representation at the ongoing Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in London today.
"Direct flights are a must for business to expand," said the group's secretary-general Mahendra Jadeja.
"Given that Gujaratis make up 46 per cent of the Indian Diaspora in Britain, this demand is valid and long-standing," he added.
He added that he had put across his requests to the former Civil Aviation ministry and hopes the new government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi would consider the demand positively.
