'Gutkha' worth Rs 5 lakh seized in Maharashtra

A huge stock of 'gutkha' worth Rs 5 lakh was seized from a truck near Medge farm in the city following which its driver was arrested, police said today.
"Last night during patrolling, police found a truck stranded in Ambed area. On suspicion, the constables checked it and found 19 bags containing 'gutkha' worth Rs 5 lakh," Inspector D D Ingole of Ambad Police Station said.
"We have arrested the truck driver and investigations are underway," police said.
Sale and consumption of 'gutkha' and pan masala has been banned by the Maharashtra government across the state.
