West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi on Monday urged the authorities of Jadavpur University to ensure that the academic atmosphere of the varsity is not disturbed.
Delivering his address at the convocation of Jadavpur University as Chancellor, Tripathi called upon the faculty and students to strive towards making JU a premier institute in the state and country.
"It is the duty of the university administration to be updated about the happenings in the campus, during and even after class hours," he said, referring to reports about people frequenting the campus after dusk.
Asked to comment on the matter, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Suranjan Das told reporters, "We will do whatever is permissible within the law."
