Citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for round-the -clock power for the people of the country, Lal said that the Haryana government is committed to ensuring the same for consumers in the state. Towards that end, the state government has also initiated a process to coordinate with the Centre.
While giving his consent for the state's participation in central government schemes for better power supply, the Haryana Chief Minister said that his government was of the view that every village and farm can get adequate power. Lal added at the same time that there was a need to change worn out electricity transmission wires in a major part of Haryana.
Under the above schemes, infrastructure facilities for power distribution would be strengthened while separate feeders would be arranged for the domestic and agricultural sector in rural and urban areas.
State governments have to contribute about 20 per cent of the cost under these schemes with the rest of the expenditure to be borne by the Centre.
Goyal also said that effective steps need to be taken for preventing electricity theft.
