Haryana government today said that it will provide computerised birth and death certificates in all districts of the state by March this year.
Under the first phase, the process has been started in Panchkula and Karnal districts, Haryana's Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Ram Niwas said.
Niwas said that Health Minister Anil Vij has been receiving complaints that birth and death certificates were not being provided on time to people.
"Therefore, all civil surgeons have been directed to carry surprise checking. The birth and death certificates would have to be made available within one week after application otherwise stern action would be taken against the officer or employee for any kind of delay and negligence," he further said.
Niwas directed the civil surgeons to take appropriate steps regarding 'Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao' scheme and instructed them to prepare list of such villages having sex ratio below 800.
