A 16-year-old class 10 student of Nowshera town in the state attempted suicide after being allegedly harassed by two of his teachers, his family has claimed.
The teenage boy, studying in Government Higher Secondary School Noushera, attempted suicide by trying to hang himself at his house in Rajouri district, on May 26, but after his sister saw him hanged, he was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital here in a critical condition.
His condition is slightly better today. He attempted suicide and was brought here, Medical Superintendent, GMC Hospital Ravinder Rattan said.
The family has accused the teachers for harassing him to the extent that he took such an extreme step.
"Two teachers, one an NCC teacher and another who teaches a subject at the school had been harassing him. We did not take his complaints seriously until he attempted suicide", the student's sister Neeru Devi alleged.
She alleged, that they never took kindly to her brother and would "mentally torture" him for the smallest of mistakes.
Police, however, has not registered any case in the incident, as they have been unable to get a statement of the victim.
"We have sent a team of police officers to GMC Hospital today to get the statement", Station House Officer Noushera Police Station, M Altaf said.
Repeated phone calls to Chief Education Officer of Rajouri, Abdul Hamid Fani went in vain.
