The sector was presently growing at the rate of mere six per cent, but should reach the level of 30 per cent annually to catch up with China by 2020, C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram Executive Director Ramani said here.
He was talking on the topic 'global strategies for sustainable technology development' at an international conference organised at the Avanashilingam University for Woman.

"We remain as the best in manufacturing sector, automobile sector and services sector too, he said, adding that NASSCOM has taken measures to promote many budding entrepreneurs by means of boot camp and 10,000 start up initiatives.
The companies, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibilty should exchange innovative programme among the students, he said.
The two-day conference on Development Policy Transfer of Technology for Sustainable Growth and Development, was jointly organised by the university and IFM, in which 300 experts and 38 delegates from countries like the Netherlands, Malaysia, Ethiopia, Oman and USA, are participating.
