Haryana Govt makes arrangements for crop procurement from Apr

Haryana government has made all necessary arrangements for smooth procurement of wheat and mustard from mandis in the state.
The produce will be procured at Minimum Support Price by the state government from April 1.
All necessary arrangements have been made for smooth procurement of wheat and mustard from April 1, this was informed in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar yesterday.
Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED), will soon procure mustard for its oil mills at Rewari and Nizampur, an official spokesman said here.
The Chief Minister has directed the concerned officers to make direct payment to the farmers in those mandis where they are not dependent on the 'Ahrtiyas' (commission agents), the official said.
It was decided to constitute a task force including with Minister or public representative, to prepare a list of such mandis.
Additional Chief Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, S S Prasad said 67 lakh metric tonne wheat was procured last year and keeping this in view, the bumper yield is expected this year.
Procurement of about 75 lakh MT wheat is expected to be done, the Chief Secretary said.
Adequate quantity of gunny bags has been made available in the grain markets, he added.
