General Observer Lakuk Venkateshwar Lu, posted at Kalawali Assembly constituency, told Anganwadi workers in Sirsa during an interaction today that female officials would be deployed at polling booths to prevent bogus voting by women "coming in veils".
"It was found that some women coming for polling in veils cast bogus votes. A decision to this effect (of placing women officials at polling booths) was, therefore, taken to check the practice," he said.
Lu asked the Anganwadi workers to motivate people to come out and vote on polling day, according to a release here.
