Amid allegations that former Maharashtra PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, arrested in a money laundering case, misused a court order to stay at a private hospital, the Dean of state-run J J Hospital here appeared before the special PMLA court today.
T P Lahane, Dean of J J Hospital, told the court that he had nothing to add to his reply submitted at the previous hearing.
The written reply had said that J J authorities played no role in allowing Bhujbal to receive treatment at the private Bombay Hospital.
J J Hospital had not misused the court order in this regard, it stated.
Bhujbal was yesterday discharged from Bombay Hospital and sent to J J Hospital, after his stay at the private facility since November 2, raised eyebrows. He had checked into Bombay Hospital for a thallium scan.
AAP leader Anjali Damania had moved the special court for Prevention of Money Laundering Act cases, alleging that Bhujbal could enjoy treatment at the private facility due to "sheer negligence of duty by authorities at J J Hospital and the Arthur Road jail".
Thallium scan does not require hospitalisation, she said.
Damania also submitted medical reports to the court and
claimed Bhujbal was as fit as a "cricketer".
The AAP leader today argued (in person) that after his arrest in March, Bhujbal stayed in hospitals for months for the medical tests, which should not take more than two to three days of hospitalisation.
Many political leaders met him during his hospital stay without permission, she alleged.
The Enforcement Directorate today submitted, in a sealed envelope, list of people who met Bhujbal during his hospital stay.
Bhujbal's lawyer is likely to present arguments tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the ED also submitted a progress report in the probe against Bhujbal to the Bombay High Court.
The Enforcement Directorate is probing money laundering case against Bhujbal and his family members in connection with construction of state guest house 'Maharashtra Sadan' in Delhi and Kalina land scam.
