DJB told a bench of justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva that the water was being generated by reclaiming eight to nine per cent of water that used to go waste during treatment process.
The four plants have been set up at Haiderpur, Chanderwal, Wazirabad and Bhagirathi, it told the court which had earlier directed DJB to file a status report on whether any waste water recycling project was in place and if yes, the quantum of water being recycled and how was it being carried out.
DJB also told the court that in order to reduce stress on demand for water supply in the city, around 142 MGD of treated effluent from waste water treatment plants was being supplied to various agencies like, DDA, CPWD, etc for non-potable uses like irrigation, horticulture and cooling plants.
"Further potential users are being identified for use of treated effluent for non-domestic purposes," DJB told the court.
