Havildar killed in North Garo Hills over family dispute

A havildar of the Meghalaya Police was killed over a family dispute in North Garo Hills district, police said today.
Samson D Sangma, who was posted at Jowai in West Jaintia Hills and was serving the 3rd battalion, had come home on holidays when he was beaten up by at least five persons at Damas village, they said.
The family dispute led to him being beaten up. He was treated in Dainadubi and then in Goalpara. He was referred to Guwahati and succumbed to his injuries on the way, North Garo Hills SP, Dalton Marak said.
According to the SP, the suspects have fled the village and a murder case was registered against those involved.
