The Calcutta High Court today directed Railway and state authorities to inspect the premises of the Jessop factory and make an inventory of materials by December 16 in connection with a case alleging police inaction by the unit's management over access to the premises some time ago.
Justice Joymalyo Bagchi directed that Director (Stores) of Indian Railways or his representative, ADG CID or his representative and District Magistrate of North 24 Parganas would visit, inspect and make an inventory at the Jessop factory in Dum Dum.
They were directed to inspect the premises by December 16 and file a report to the court by December 19 in connection with the case.
This matter has no connection with an FIR filed by the Railways with the Dum Dum police station after an inspection team found several equipment and coaches worth Rs 50 crore missing from the factory where a fire had broken out on October 17.
Ruia Group chairman Pawan Ruia has been summoned by the CID four times in the past in connection with its probe into the theft and fire at the Jessop factory, but each time he had failed to appear.
The CID had then arrested Ruia from his Sundar Nagar residence in New Delhi on December 10 and has been sent to 14-days' custody of the investigating agency by a Barrackpur court on production yesterday.
