Earlier in 2011, the Kerala Lokayukta had recommended cancellation of the appointments, citing irregularities in the conduct of examinations and interview.
Challenging this, a group of selected candidates had approached the High Court.
The High Court directed the University to provide all service benefits to the appointees with retrospective effect.
Setting aside the findings of the Lokayukta, the High Court observed that "at the best there may be some procedural lapses" in the selection process.
