The Bombay High Court today dismissed a petition filed by Mumbai-Pune Taxi Owners' Association challenging a rule of the Regional Transport Office which lays it down that taxis plying on Mumbai-Pune route must have 1,500 cc engine.
Division bench headed by Justice S F Vajifdar, while dismissing the petition, said it would give a reasoned order later.
The association had contended that the rule would force several taxi-owners to buy bigger cars which come with price tag of Rs eight lakh and above, dumping their existing taxis.
The rule came into force last year.
