A division bench of justices A S Oka and A A Sayed directed Additional Chief Secretary (Home) K P Bakshi to file an affidavit explaining the government's "failure" to implement directions passed by HC in July 2015.
As per the 2015 order of the High Court, a high-power committee, set up in 2013, was to meet regularly to ensure that suggestions and directions given by the High Court would be discussed and implemented at the earliest.
The directions were passed on a public interest litigation filed by Bombay Bar Association seeking strict implementation of traffic rules and regulations.
The High Court was today informed by the petitioner that till date the committee has not convened a meeting even once and none of the other directions or suggestions have been implemented by the government.
An irked bench directed Bakshi to file a personal affidavit stating what the government has done till date and why has it failed to implement the court directions.
