The Bombay High Court today ordered status quo on a plot belonging to government's City Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), used by InOrbit Mall of Raheja Developers in Vashi town of Navi Mumbai.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Raheja Developers challenging the decision of CIDCO to take back the open space in front of the mall which was being used by the visitors for the last eight years.
A bench headed by Justice S C Dharmadhikari ordered that status quo be maintained in respect of such land and allowed the mall to continue using the place like it did before until the next hearing on January 17.
The ground is being currently used by the members of the public who visit the malls. The vehicles are parked in the underground basement but they have to cross the open spaceto reach the parking slots.
Raheja Developers today filed an affidavit in the court saying that in keeping with the earlier orders of the High Court, they had removed the boards displaying that the open space was being maintained by them.
This was stated in the affidavit because CIDCO had objected saying the open space belongs to them and the mall owners had wrongly put boards displaying that the ground was being maintained by Raheja Developers.
Accordingly, the court had directed the petitioners to remove the boards. This was complied with, the bench was told today.
The hearing would continue next month.
