A case was filed last night against the head of Dhanasanchay Nagri Sahakari Path Sanstha, Ajay Jairam Joshi and one of his staffers for allegedly misappropriating nearly Rs 6.85 lakh, collected from consumers of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd, senior police inspector V S Suryawanshi said. The cash was to be deposited with MSEDCL.
The co-operative society was given the responsibility of collecting power bills on behalf of MSEDCL in Thane.
According to the complaint filed by MSEDCL's Deputy Manager Rashmi Agarwal, Joshi and his aide had collected a total of Rs 6.84 lakh in three days between June 28 and June 30, but did not deposit it at the MSEDCL office and misappropriated it, he said.
