As the civic officials confirmed one death due to heat stroke here, director of meteorological centre of the IMD said today was the the "hottest day in the city in the last 100 years".
"The maximum temperature in Ahmedabad city was recorded at 48 degrees Celsius today. It has broken a 100-year record. As per the data, the city had recorded 47.8 degrees Celsius on May 27, 1916," said Jayanta Sarkar, director of meteorological centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
