Heat is rising, so is power demand

With Delhiites reeling under scorching heat, power demand today soared to 5,442 megawatts in the national capital.
"The maximum demand on Monday was recorded 5,442 MW at 2:57 pm. The demand was successfully met," a senior government official said.
Yesterday, the power demand was registered 5,337 megawatts in the national capital.
As the mercury is rising with each passing day, power demand may increase this year, the official further said.
Last year, power demand had risen to 5,925 MW in Delhi.
