Heat wave continues in Jharkhand

Mercury again shot up to 45.2 degrees Celsius in Jamshedpur while Bokaro and Dhanbad recorded 45 degrees Celsius, according to the MeT department here.

Lohardaga and Palamau sizzled at 44.5 and 44.3 degrees Celsius respectively while Garhwa, Dumka (44.3) and West Singhbhum were hot at 44 degrees Celsius.

Latehar, Hazaribagh and Giridih experienced 43 degrees Celsius while state capital Ranchi had another hot day at 40.9 degrees Celsius.

Even minimum temperatures in most places shot up above the normal with West Singhbhum and Palamau recording 33.7 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively.

The Met office has predicted another hot day tomorrow with heat wave conditions likely to prevail in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Hazaribagh district administration has extended summer vacation for schools till June 17 in view of the scorching temperatures, according to official sources.

The schools were to open today.
