Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to lash most parts of Himachal Pradesh including capital Shimla tomorrow onwards and monsoon would enter the state in the next 48 hours, the MeT Department has said.
The MeT Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rains and thunderstorm from June 24 to June 26 due to western disturbances and advised the farmers to defer all outdoor farming activities.
It also advised general public not to move outside unnecessarily as heavy rains and thunderstorm could trigger landslides and uproot trees in the sensitive areas/zones, causing loss or injury.
The MeT Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmaur and Una districts over next two days.
MeT Director Manmohan Singh said that monsoon normally enters the state on June 29 but last year it was delayed by six days and may be advanced by three to four days this year.
Moderate to heavy rains lashed many parts of the state and maximum day temperature plummeted from 39.2 degrees to 28 degrees Celsius in Una. Nahan, Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded maximum temperatures at 32.9, 31.0 and 30.9 degrees Celsius respectively, followed by Solan 29.8, Dharamsala 29.4, Kalpa 25.6 and Shimla 24.1 degrees Celsius.
Guler received 46-mm rains while Jubbal and Ghamroor recorded 34-mm and 27-mm rains, followed by Dehra Gopipur 26-mm, Nagrota Suriyan and Dalhousie 25-mm each, Kheri 22-mm, Nurpur 21-mm, Bangana 19-mm, Kangra 17-mm, Chamba 13-mm, Bharmaur 12-mm, Palampur, Sujanpur Tihra and Kasauli 9-mm each, Shimla 7-mm, and Una 4-mm.
There was no significant change in minimum temperatures and Kalpa was the coldest at night with a low of 9.8 degrees, followed by Dalhousie 12.1 and Keylong 12.8 degrees Celsius.
