Heavy rains in Sub-Himalayan districts of Bengal to continue

The Sub-Himalayan districts of West Bengal seemed to be staring at a deluge with heavy to very heavy rains likely to continue for the next three days in the region, the Met department said here today.
The districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal have been experiencing heavy rains since Tuesday and similar weather conditions are likely to continue till August 13, the Met department said.
The weatherman has also warned of extremely heavy rainfalls at isolated places in Coochbehar and Alipurduar till Friday and in all the five districts on Saturday and Sunday.
Jalpaiguri recorded 128.7 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 AM today, the highest in the state during the period.

Coochbehar also notched three-digit figures in rainfall count at 106.3 mm during the same period.
The southern districts of the state in Gangetic West Bengal are likely to remain cloudy with one or two spells of rain till tomorrow, following which rainfall activity is likely to increase in coastal and adjoining areas, including the metropolis.
