Monsoon is expected to hit Bihar between June 17-18 and pre-monsoon shower is not expected till June 5, the MeT department here said.
"There will be no rains till June 5 but after that good pre-monsoon showers in the southeast and northern parts of the state are expected from June 6-7," Patna MeT director Ashish Sen said.
"Southwest monsoon is expected to hit Kerala by June 7 and it reaches Bihar normally after 10-11 days. This means that monsoon is likely to hit the state between June 17-18," he said.
On an average, Bihar gets 1,027 mm rainfall in four months beginning June every year.
Asked why there is so much humidity, Sen said high humidity is normal when monsoon is around. It has been witnessed that humidity increases 10 to 12 days before the onset of monsoon.
Temperature is hovering between 37-39 degrees Celsius at many areas, while Gaya and some places are experiencing temperature above 40 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said.
