Democratic presidential front- runner Hillary Clinton made a whopping USD 6.4 million in book royalties and paid speeches in 2015, while her husband and former US president Bill Clinton earned USD 5.25 million from 22 speeches.
The 68-year-old former secretary of state earned USD 5 million in royalties from her book "Hard Choices" and another USD 1.4 million from paid speeches before she launched her second presidential campaign, according to the financial disclosure form released by the Clinton campaign last night.
In all, the Clinton couple earned a staggering USD 6.725 million from paid speeches alone in the year 2015.
The disclosure, that came hours after Republican Donald Trump released a statement putting his personal wealth at USD 10 billion, was part of the requirements of a presidential candidate.
Releasing the 11-page document, the Clinton campaign slammed Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, for not being transparent in his financial disclosures.
"Despite Donald Trump's boasting, submitting his Personal Financial Disclosure form is no breakthrough for transparency. It is a legal requirement for anyone running for president," Clinton campaign spokeswoman Christina Reynolds said in a statement.
"The true test for Donald Trump is whether he will adhere to the precedent followed by every presidential candidate in the modern era and make his tax returns available, as Hillary Clinton has done," Reynolds said.
Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont, Clinton's rival in the Democratic primary, got an extension to file for his financial disclosure form.
Trump submitted his Financial Disclosure Form to the Federal Election Commission yesterday.
