The housewife in her mid 20s along with her husband was travelling in a motorcycle in New Town's Chandi Behria area at around 1 am, after taking part in new year celebrations in a nearby area.
While they were returning, few drunk youths allegedly forced the couple to stop, tried to molest the housewife and mercilessly beat up her husband when he protested, police said quoting the complainants.
Later, in the morning they lodged a police complaint.
The police have launched an investigation and on a lookout for the culprits.
"We are looking into the case and we are on a the lookout for the culprits," a senior official of Newtown police station said.
DCDD of Bidhannagar Commissionerate division, West Bengal Police, Kankar Barui said the couple lodged complaint after the woman went for a medical test at Bidhannagar Hospital this morning.
