The order entails over 40,000 of the company's newly- launched Pro8 Tablets, Sumeer Chandra, Managing Director, HP Inc India said but did not divulge the contract size in monetary terms.
"These will be used by various government departments within Jharkhand for improving the productivity...We are in the process of shipping the devices, which can be customised based on the service to be delivered," Chandra told PTI.
The company is also talking to other states for use of the devices in various projects, Chandra said.
The company said the Pro8 Tablet series is a "Made for India" device that has been designed for rugged conditions and supports regional Indian languages.
The tablet comes in four variants and starts from Rs 19,374 for basic version.
