An official spokesman of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said the government will not compromise on the quality of ration supplied to the poor through ration depots.
The department had allocated 3,536 quintals of pulsesin Ambala district for February and March. These were supplied by Delhi's MRB Enterprises at focal points in Ambala.
He said the depot holders complained about the low quality of pulses. After receiving the complaint, a team of the department reached Confed Ambalafor the inspection of pulseson May 23. The Officers of the Food Safety Department were also called to take samples of the pulses, the spokesman said.
Out of the 3,536 quintals of pulses supplied to the depots in Ambala, 1,253.53 quintals were found to be substandard, he added.
