"For a chief minister to ask the chief secretary to find out the sources of the report and on how the same was leaked to the media is not acceptable to the HSPDP," party spokesperson G Nonglong said.
He said, the party "do not approve" the chief minister questioning the leakage of CBI Report.
"Instead of taking action against these tainted representatives and immediately sacking them, he (CM) covered-up indirectly by questioning the report's leakage," Nonglong said.
The HSPDP said the statement made by the CM has destroyed the true spirit and meaning of "transparency" and the use of the RTI in a democratic form of governance.
Applauding the people who unearthed the misdeed of his cabinet members using the RTI, Nonglong said the CM's action "sends a wrong signal" in the way the government functions and further "encourages" the wrong-doers not to mend their ways in the future.
A day after the CBI report was made public, Chief Minister said he had ordered the Chief Secretary to find out how the secret CBI report was leaked to the media.
The CBI report which has been kept under wrap by the government had exposed the names of some top politicians whose recommendations were taken into consideration while selecting candidates for the post of assistant teachers in government lower primary schools two years back.
