'Hunar Haat' to be held in Jaipur from Aug 24

The next 'Hunar Haat', where handmade indigenous products of master artisans and craftsmen are made available to the people, will be organised from August 24 in Jaipur, the Minority Affairs Ministry said Friday.

This will be the first 'Hunar Haat' organized under the Modi government's second term.

Lakhs of artisans and craftsmen have been provided employment and similar opportunities earlier through more than a dozen such 'haats' held in the last three years.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot along with Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will be formally inaugurating the 'Hunar Haat', being organised by ministry, onAugust 25 at the Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur.

More than 200 master artisans and culinary experts, including a large number of women artisans from every corner of the country, will participate in this 'Hunar Haat', a statement said.

'Hunar Haat' has proved to be an effective programme to provide employment and employment opportunities to master artisans.

"More than 2.40 lakh master artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts have been provided employment and employment opportunities in the last three years," Naqvi said.

He said 'Hunar Haat' has proved to be a "credible brand" of "indigenous talent" of Indian artisans and craftsmen.

The Minister said the 'haat' has ensured "development with dignity" of artisans and craftsmen of the country and asserted that it has proved to be an "employment exchange" for master artisans and craftsmen.

In the'Hunar Haat' at Jaipur, the artisans will be bringing indigenous handmade exquisite items such as cane and bamboo products, jute products from Assam, variety of silks from Jharkhand, Bhagalpuri silk and linen, lac and traditional jewellery, Kantha of West Bengal, Varanasi Silk, Lucknow's chikankari, and ceramic terracotta, the statement said.

The visitors will also be able to enjoy traditional delicacies such as "Awadhi Khana, Rajasthani pakwan, Gujarati Thali, Maharashtrian cuisine, Madhya Pradesh ka Khana, Chatpati Chaat and Delhi Street Food.

Besides, traditional cultural programmes, Qawalli by renowned artists such as Mirza sisters and Nizami Brothers, will also be a major attraction for visitors.

'Hunar Haat' earlier has been organised in Allahabad, New Delhi, Puducherry and Mumbai.

In the coming days, 'Hunar Haat' will be organised in different states of the country, the statement added.
