The accused, identified as S Gangaiah (29), who is into ayurvedic medicines business in Guntakal town of Anantapur, was arrested from there and the boy was rescued, a release issued by Cyberabad police said.
"About two months back, Gangaiah came to Rajendranagar here with his auto trolley and raised a hut to sell medicines. However, since his income was meager, he decided to earn money by kidnapping and selling children," it said.
The accused tried to sell the boy for Rs 1 lakh, but based on specific inputs, police succeeded in foiling his attempts and rescued the boy, they said.
A case was registered under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping) and 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), it said.
