Having played the role of an alcoholic in his last two films, actor Aditya Roy Kapoor says he is glad to shun the booze in favour of food in his upcoming movie 'Daawat-e-Ishq'.
In both "Aashiqui 2" and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", the 28-year-old actor was seen playing characters that had drinking problems.
In this Habib Faisal-directed romantic drama, Aditya plays a cook from Lucknow and Parineeti Chopra plays his love interest.
"I guess I am good at playing a drunkard. But I don't want to roles in which I am required to a play an alcoholic anymore; I think I should include it in the contract. But in this film my character is high on food," Aditya said today during the music launch of the film here.
Talking about his character, he says he plays Tariq, a happy-go-lucky guy, which is a departure from his previous outings on screen.
"In the last films I feel my characters have had a very serious undertone. In this film I play a happy soul... He is big hearted fellow, who does not have too much angst. I am glad that I got to work with Habib who has seen so much in the world and it is because of him that I was able to play this character," he says.
In the film, Aditya would be seen shaking his leg and the actor says it was a bit nerve-racking for him as it is something that he hasn't done much before.
"I haven't done much song and dance in my previous films and always tried to be in the corner of the frame whenever there was a song. But in this film I have tried to dance and it was fun. But yes I had to rehearse a lot," he says.
"Daawat-e-Ishq" has been produced by Yash Raj Films and also stars Anupam Kher and TV actor Karan Wahi. The film is set to hit theatres on September 5.
