Appreciating the "reform oriented efforts" of the I&B ministry in taking communication to the "last mile", members of a consultative panel of the ministry has suggested carrying out an impact assessment study on integration of the three media units into Bureau of Outreach Communication (BoC), an official release said today.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Zubin Irani chaired the consultative committee meeting yesterday to discuss about broad schematics of the integration of Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP), Directorate of Field Publicity (DFP) and Song & Drama Division (S&DD) into BOC, it said.
In a tweet, the minister said Bureau of Outreach Communication (BOC) - a framework designed to ensure Government's engagement reaches every state and every district of the country; a reformative step in taking Government communication beyond National Capital.
Apprising the members about the initiative, Irani explained how integrating various media units, which were working in silos, would achieve synergy as well as help in reducing establishment cost and in rational utilisation of human resources, the release said.
Members of the committee appreciated the reform oriented efforts of the ministry and suggested that such reforms will play a vital role in taking communication to the last mile.
The members also suggested to conduct an impact assessment study on the integration of media units and impart training to the officials so that it will enable them to work in an integrated manner, it said.
Consultative committee, which consists of members from both the Houses of Parliament, meet at regular intervals, both during session as well as in inter-session periods to take stock of the policies and workings of government departments.
