Sen made her first public appearance as a politician at a party workers' meet here, saying "I have drawn inspiration from Mamata Banerjee when I came to know her closely during the last days of my mother in a hospital."
"I have come here to serve the people. I'll see to it that the local problems are sorted out if I am elected in the election," said the actress who featured in 60 films in Bengali and six other languages.
Pitted against CPI(M) stalwart and sitting MP Basudev Acharya, the 66-year-old actress sought the cooperation of the grassroots workers to win the seat.
