I-T dept to deploy 130 officers for Bengal election

Income Tax department will deploy about 130 officials for keeping vigil on illegal cash movement in the coming general elections.
"We will have some 30 officials in the city and around 100 officers in the districts to monitor unaccounted money movement for the general elections," I-T DG (Investigations) Gopal Mukherjee said here today.
So far there has been no instruction on monetary limit from the Election Commission, he said.
I-T Chief Commissioner G N Pande said a control room will be opened and may become operational by March 19.
After the announcement of poll dates, the investigation section of I-T department comes under EC and assists the election regulator to ensure free and fair elections.
