Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), located in Pusa campus here, has released eight varieties of mangoes for commercial cultivation.
These varieties are: Mallika, Amrapali, Pusa Arunima, Pusa Surya, Pusa Pratibha, Pusa Lalima and Pusa Peetamber.
"To popularise these mango hybrids, 'Pusa Mango Day' is being organised for mango lovers, growers, entrepreneurs and food processors on July 15 at Dr BP Pal Auditorium in IARI campus," an official statement said.
Highlights of the event include exhibition cum competition of IARI mango varieties, cuisines and fruit carving, special lectures, farmer-scientist interactive session, display and sale of fruits and processed products, it said.
India produces 184 lakh tonnes of mangoes annually and exports around 45,000 tonnes.
