The RSS was clarifying on media reports quoting its Chief Mohan Bhagwat as saying that the organisation's job is not to chant "NaMo, NaMo" in a personality-driven campaign.
Sangh Chief Spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya said what Bhagwat has emphasised in his concluding remarks at the All-India Pratinidhi Sabha of its cadres in Bangalore that the cadres should keep in mind that they are not working for any political party but for nation interest.
"In present times, icons are important in election campaign. It is the prerogative of the party to choose their leader to lead the campaign and BJP has chosen their leader accordingly," Vaidya quoted the RSS Chief as replying to a question.
He clarified that the interpretation in some section of media about the concluding remarks of Bhagwat is "totally wrong".
"RSS has already made it clear that, this election is crucial for the nation. For a strong democracy, hundred per cent voting with national issues in mind is very much important.
