A man working at the Delhi airport has been apprehended by the CISF for allegedly stealing an envelope containing Singaporean dollars, worth Rs 50,000, of an Indian passenger flying to Kuala Lumpur, a senior official said today.

The incident took place last night at Terminal-III of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport, he said.

The man was apprehended after a traveller complained to the security personnel that his cash envelope containing 1,000 Singaporean dollars was missing after he entered the facility, he said.

The CISF personnel on spot immediately scanned the CCTV footage and found a man picking up the packet, he said.

Devendra Singh, a staffer with a ground handling agency at the airport, was intercepted and frisked, leading to the recovery of the stolen envelope, the official said.

"The AEP (airport entry permit) of Singh was confiscated and he was terminated from service by the airport authority," he said.

The envelope containing 1,000 Singaporean dollars (about Rs 50,000) was given back to the passenger, S Bohra, who was travelling to Kuala Lumpur, the official said.
