A 25-year-old Ph.D student of IIT Indore was crushed to death on Wednesday after a truck knocked down his motorcycle on Indore-Khandwa road in Simrol area, around 30 kms from here, police said.
According to police, the truck was speeding when it hit the motorcycle rode by Shubham Kumar Pyasi.
Police have arrested the truck driver and impounded the vehicle.
Pyasi was pursuing doctorate in electrical engineering, police said.
A pall of gloom has descended on the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in the city.
