Implats workers in South Africa end strike

Workers at the world's second largest platinum miner Implats returned to work today after staging a one day protest over the dismissal of a colleague, the company said.
"Everything is back to normal, the workers resumed work this morning," said Implats spokesman Bob Gilmour.
About 3,000 workers at the mine's South Africa operation in the northwestern town of Rustenburg had downed tool protesting the dismissal of a co-worker after a disciplinary action.
Gilmour said the worker's dismissal has not been reversed.
Implats has largely been spared in the wave of violence that hit South Africa's mining sector since August last year.

Some violence and work stoppages in the country's mines has been linked to union rivalry and demands for higher wages.
In August, 34 striking miners were killed by police during a protest at Lonmin's Marikana mine.
