Himachal Pradesh CPI(M) today demanded that Justice R M Lodha committee's recommendations to the BCCI should be implemented in the state cricket bodies also, a day after the Supreme Court pulled up the cricket body for non-compliance of its directions.
"The respective state bodies too should follow the same nomenclature and get rid from fiefdom of some of the cohorts of the ruling parties and the bureaucracy," said senior CPI(M) leader and Deputy Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Tikender Singh Panwar.
"The decision to not to have a minister or a bureaucrat in the BCCI is highly commendable and will help in scrubbing the cricket body from the dirt and muck that it has carried on for years together," he said.
He said the panel's one of the important recommendations for having democratic control over the cricket body is urgently required, especially in the states like HP, where the "HPCA happens to have converted into a fiefdom of BJP with life time members of one family dominating with voting rights."
Panwar said a similar case is pending in the Himachal High Court in which he is the petitioner and the recommendation of the Committee clearly indicates that people in general want all cricket bodies to government as per the recommendations of Lodha committee.
The Supreme Court yesterday pulled up the BCCI, asking it to "fall in line" after the Lodha panel sought removal of the top brass of BCCI, including its President Anurag Thakur and Secretary Ajay Shirke, for non-compliance of the apex court directions.
The Lodha panel, in its status report filed before the apex court, had sought the replacement of top brass of the cricket body with cricket administrators.
