BJP tribal leader Ram Lal Markanda told reporters here that the state government was delaying the implementation of quota in promotions to SCs and STs on one pretext or another inspite of the Supreme Court's orders.
"The SCs and STs constitute 32 per cent of the total population and in case the quota is not implemented and backlog not cleared, these communities would oppose the Congress in the Lok Sabha polls," he added.
Markanda said that people of tribal areas did not have access to quality education and other facilities and unless the "quota in promotion" is implemented, they would remain backward and not become a part of mainstream.
